These understated soft hardwoods feature pale, creamy heartwood with a subtle grain pattern. They are lovely to work with and a perfect choice for carving.

Lime timber is highly workable, lightweight and resistant to splitting, and has a fine, firm and close texture. It also turns well and can be easily nailed, glued, stained and polished to a smooth, glass-like effect.

As it responds well to varnishing, it is a highly favourable timber for making musical instruments, as well as furniture making and wood turning, where its subtle hue adds a soft, natural elegance.
