London Plane 3303 – 3310

Price per slab: £300 inc VAT

Platanus × acerifolia

This ”city survivor” earned its reputation during the Industrial Revolution, using its self-cleaning bark to shed grime and pollutants that would have choked any other species.

Famous for its ‘lacewood’ figuring, creating a shimmering, lace-like tapestry across the surface. This timber displays a creamy sapwood and tanned heartwood, accompanied by pippy knots. For makers, the London Plane is a hidden gem – similar in strength to Oak, but with a finer, closer grain that sands to a lustrous finish.

Excellent workability and responds well to oils. From live-edge dining tables to statement desks, it is a perfect choice for craftspeople who want a timber that is as durable as it is decorative.
